(MERRILLVILLE) - Employees at the Merrillville Municipal Complex had to leave the building Wednesday afternoon because of a bomb threat that was called into the police department.
Police Chief Joseph Petruch said the threat was made about 20 minutes after a procession returning the body of fallen Merrillville Patrolman Nick Schultz to Northwest Indiana passed by the department.
Officers searched Schultz's flower-covered patrol car parked outside the building and than the entire building and found no bomb.
