(PENDLETON) - Authorities say they’ve determined the identity of the man whose body was found this month at the Pendleton exit at I-69 and State Road 38.
The Madison County coroner says dental records were used to identify the dead man as 48-year-old Jerry Elliott of Greenfield.
Fishermen found a badly decomposed body Sept. 6 behind some businesses at the Pendleton exit at I-69 and State Road 38.
Pendleton Police weren't able to tell identify the victim as male or female because the body was so badly decomposed. They later learned the body is that of a man and it might have been there for about two weeks.
How Elliott died is still under investigation.
State records show he was released from prison last year after serving a sentence for a strangulation conviction from Elkhart County.
