(SHELBYVILLE) - Shelby County school officials and local police unveiled a “revolutionary” security system Thursday night.
Southwestern High School is the first school in the nation to be directly connected to law enforcement in real time.
Every teacher in the school wears a key fob to press in an emergency. Students are locked in the classroom behind doors that are made to withstand an active shooter's attempt to gain entry.
Law enforcement can begin to immediately track the shooter using surveillance cameras and sensors.
