(DAMASCUS TOWNSHIP, Pa.) - A 10-year-old Pennsylvania boy faces a homicide charge after police say he killed a 90-year-old woman.
The boy's mother is the one who told police what happened.
According to Newswatch 16, Tristen Kurilla, 10, was visiting his grandpa on Saturday when he went into the room of 90-year-old Helen Novak. The woman yelled at Kurilla to get out. The boy then left the room, court documents said.
He told police he lost his temper and came back with a wooden cane. He then "came up behind her and put the cane around her throat and pulled back," court documents said. Novak was sitting on the bed; the 10-year-old pulled her down on the bed and pushed the cane against her throat for about five seconds.
After she sat up, he told police he "punched her in the throat five times and then in the stomach five times."
When asked if he intended to kill her, Kurilla answered, "No, I was only trying to hurt her."
An autopsy found that Novak died from blunt force trauma to the neck. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Prosecutors said Kurilla will be charged as an adult.
