(SULLIVAN) - No injuries were reported after an accident Tuesday morning involving a train and a semi.
WTHI reports, the accident happened just before 9 a.m. Officials at the scene confirm the semi was attempting to cross Silver Street when part of the semi trailer was caught on the tracks.
The semi was on its way to Allomatic Products Co Inc. located at 609 E Chaney St for a pick-up. As the semi was crossing the track it was hit and drug for a while down the track. At the time the trailer of the semi was empty.
The trailer got wrapped around the train but it does not appear the driver of the semi was injured. A homeowner near the scene described hearing the crash as well as seeing sparks.
CSX officials and the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office are at the scene.
The train itself is 4,700 feet long and the train is now blocking intersections in Sullivan.
Officials are bringing in an excavator to pull the semi off the train and tracks. In order to get the excavator to the semi, they are going to have to use the train to move the semi down the tracks all the way to State Road 54.
Once the train gets the semi to SR 54, that intersection will be blocked for some time.
