(ELIZABETHTOWN) - Indiana State Police Versailles asked that drivers avoid State Road 7 in Elizabethtown Thursday morning while authorities investigated a fatal crash.
The crash happened near SR 7 and CR 950 N. Police say a 1987 Buick driven by 34-year-old Leslie Anna Gentry, of Columbus, was traveling southbound on SR 7, crossed the center line of the road and went into the north lane of traffic. Police say the Buick hit a white 1972 Chevrolet flat-bed truck driven by a 77-year-old North Vernon man.
Police say the man tried to turn to the right away from Gentry's vehicle but the two collided. Gentry was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say the man was treated for bruising on the scene.
Officers say they don't know why Gentry's Buick traveled into the northbound lane.
Officers say SR 7 at Legal Tender Road -- west of the crash scene in Bartholomew County -- and SR 7 at CR 900 N -- east of the crash scene in Jennings County -- were closed for a few hours.
SR 7 was reopened around 11:30 a.m.
