(GREENFIELD) - The Greenfield Police Department is investigating the death of a 4-year old-child in the 400 block of Bourneside Drive in Greenfield.
The child's parents say the child had flu-like symptoms Wednesday night.
A call came into the Hancock County Emergency Operations Center of an unresponsive child at approximately 7:55 a.m. Thursday morning. Greenfield Police and Fire departments responded to the residence where the child was found in the bedroom on his bed. There was no indication of foul play.
An autopsy and toxicology test will be performed to determine the cause of death.
Mom was with the child until around 8:30 p.m. and then checked on the child again around 10:30 p.m. with the child still sick but doing fine. As the family woke, mom went in to check on the child and found him unresponsive.
Greenfield Police, Hancock County Coroner's office and Indiana Department of Child Services are continuing the investigation.
