(INDIANAPOLIS) - Health officials are monitoring five people who recently traveled to Indiana from the West African nations of Guinea, Sierra Leone or Liberia for symptoms common with Ebola disease.
The Indiana State Department of Health said that all five people are considered low-risk and are cooperating with health officials. It says two other travelers already have completed monitoring.
It says local health officials are monitoring travelers from the three nations for 21 days after they enter the U.S. with twice daily temperature and symptom checks. If the travelers experience symptoms between checks, they've been instructed to immediately contact their local health department.
The state health department isn't identifying the counties where travelers are being monitored. It says people with Ebola can only spread the virus when they have symptoms.
