(FORT WAYNE) - The identity of the woman found dead in a Fort Wayne cemetery on Monday has been released following an autopsy by the Allen County Coroner.
Thirty-year-old Katherine M. Gick was found dead at the Catholic Cemetery at 3500 Lake Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday. According to the Allen County Coroner's Office, there were indications of blunt force trauma and sharp force trauma but more testing needs to be done to determine the cause of death. Her death has been ruled a homicide.
WANE reports, a man detained by police shortly after Gick's body was found on Monday is facing a murder charge for her death.
As they arrived to investigate the scene, workers told police they saw a man walking out of the cemetery around the same time the body was discovered. Police quickly found 20-year-old Quinn Joseph Albers walking on Lake Avenue just north of the cemetery and detained him.
On Tuesday, police reported that Albers had preliminary been charged with murder.
Gick and Albers were clients of Easter Seals in Fort Wayne, an official with the organization confirmed. Easter Seals provides services for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. A representative with the organization said they were "shocked, saddened and struggling with the news."
