(INDIANAPOLIS) - An alert IMPD officer on patrol noticed the body of a young woman early Monday morning on the city’s far east side in the Tudor Park complex off of 38th Street.
WTHR reports that the woman suffered intense brain injuries, although the coroner will have to determine the exact cause of death.
"One of the officers right after a traffic stop was driving through the apartment complex and looked off into the grass, and approximately 75 feet off the edge of the road, found a young lady deceased," said Lt. Mark McCardia with IMPD. "He checked her and she had no pulse. Medics came and confirmed that she was dead. There's some bleeding around the head area, the result of some sort of trauma, but we don't know anything further."
Police say they don't believe the woman's body had been there long. It's not clear whether she died there, or had been brought to the area.
"Officers interviewed everyone we could talk to and find and knocked on doors, but nobody's heard anything. Nobody's seen anything. It's a mystery so far," Lt. McCardia told Eyewitness News.
The victim is believed to be in her early 20's.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
