(EVANSVILLE) - Police say some threats were made against President Barack Obama before his trip to southwestern Indiana last week.
Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding tells WFIE-TV some comments on Facebook and elsewhere indicated the president's life might be in peril during his visit Friday to the Evansville area.
Wedding says no threats were discounted and authorities were watching out for a few people, especially along Obama's motorcade route between Evansville Regional Airport and the factory near Princeton where he spoke.
Indiana State Police Sgt. Jason Allen tells The Indianapolis Star that more than 200 police officers helped the Secret Service in providing security. Allen says that at no time did police believe Obama's life was in danger.
No arrests have been reported in connection with the threats.
