(INDIANAPOLIS) - Indianapolis has played host to many high-ranking officials over the years, but next March, we get to host royalty from the planet of Alderaan.
The IndyStar reports that Indiana Comic Con has announced that Carrie Fisher -- Princess Leia herself -- will appear during the 2015 event running March 13-15 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Though the event is spread over three days, Fisher will be appearing only Saturday and Sunday.
While she is best known for the original 'Star Wars' trilogy -- 'Star Wars' (1977), 'The Empire Strikes Back' (1980), 'Return of the Jedi' (1983) -- she has earned acclaim for her novels, plays and screenplays, most notably "Postcards from the Edge." She has returned to the 'Star Wars' fold with 'Episode VII,' now shooting in London.
Next year will be a big year for Indiana Comic Con in the literal sense as it will be moving from Halls D and E into Halls F through K, nearly tripling its floor space. Among the other guests already confirmed for the event are legendary voice actor Billy West ('Futurama,' 'Popeye'), 'Conan/Game of Thrones' actor Jason Momoa and genre mainstay John Rhys-Davies (Gimli in 'The Lord of the Rings,' the Professor on 'Sliders,' Sallah in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark').
Tickets for Indiana Comic Con are on sale now at Eventbrite, with Friday and Sunday $30 each and Saturday $35. A pass for all three days costs $60.
With Fisher's appearance, it's almost certain that the "gold bikini" cosplay -- already near-omnipresent at comic conventions -- will shift into overdrive.
