(ARCADIA) - Justin Wayne Lawson and Joseph Michael Lowe were arrested for breaking into World War II veteran Hershel “Bud” Moore’s home and beating him severely.
WTHR reports, the Hamilton County sheriff announced the arrests Monday.
Sheriff Mark Bowen says Moore is recovering from the attack.
Lowe faces charges of conspiracy to commit robbery, residential entry, burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
Lawson faces charges of armed robbery, burglary, theft, residential entry, criminal confinement, strangulation, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, battery and intimidation.
Detectives say the men ransacked Moore's home after beating him and then stole a large amount of cash. The attack outraged this small community, prompting many to wonder why.
Moore is 94 years old, a World War II veteran and, friends say, a former prisoner of war.
