(VIGO COUNTY) - Vigo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a domestic disturbance which left two people dead in eastern Vigo County Sunday morning.
WTHI reports, around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, Vigo County Deputies were called to 4025 N. Creal Street after dispatch received a call from a woman stating her husband was threatening to kill her. The call ended abruptly but within minutes the female had called back and it is believed gunshots were heard in the background. IMG_0318-0
Deputies arrived to find the woman dead and also found a child and an elderly couple in the house uninjured. They were all removed for safety.
They learned an adult male had fled into the basement of the house with multiple rounds of ammunition. Because of this the Terre Haute Police Department's Special Response Team (SRT) was called to the scene. Deputies created a perimeter around the house and with the help of a remote camera, SRT located the male in the basement unresponsive.
The Special Response Team entered the home and found the adult male deceased in the basement.
Identification of the male and female as well as official cause of death are pending until autopsies are performed.
