(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say she burned several chickens alive outside a west side apartment building.
According to a report from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to an apartment building in the 800 block of Wyckford Drive after a man called to say he'd seen a woman set a chicken on fire inside a dumpster.
According to the report, the man used a fire extinguisher to put it out.
The woman, identified as 49-year-old Erika Grentz, told the assistant apartment manager that she "brought one chicken over and set it on fire" because it "had maggots," according to the report.
However, police found "two chicken heads and several burned chickens in the dumpster," the report said.
Grentz was arrested on charges of torturing and mutilating a vertebrate animal.
