(WHITLEY CO.) - A farmer came across a car and a body while working in his southwest Whitley County cornfield on Sunday.
Joe Carroll said he was combining corn at the farm at County Road 850 West north of State Road 114 and came across a car. The body was found nearby.
"It was anything but a normal day and it was something that was hard to understand," said Carroll. "I radioed to Tina and told her to call the state police post, that we had an issue to deal with. It got more bizarre from there."
Whitley County Coroner Randall Dellinger said the body appeared to have been in the field for some time before it was discovered by Carroll.
The vehicle had been flagged by the Fort Wayne Police Department as being connected to a missing person investigation from August of 2014. The body remains were taken to the Northeast Indiana Forensic Center, where an autopsy was completed on Monday. The autopsy determined that the body was that of Scott H. Vogan, 33 of Fort Wayne. No foul play is suspected.
It's still not known how Vogan ended up in the field.
