(ARCADIA) - A World War II veteran who survived a brutal attack got new support from the community Saturday night.
Police arrested two men in the robbery and beating of 94-year-old Hershel "Bud" Moore last month in his Arcadia home. Saturday, dozens took part in a motorcycle ride from Kokomo to Noblesville to raise back the money that was stolen during the crime.
Family members said they're incredibly thankful for all the support they've received.
"It's just an overwhelming thing that the people of America still have a big heart like they do," said Bud's daughter, Sandra Tolley. "He's paid his sacrifice to America and still is, and I think it's just wonderful how these veterans have come out to support each other."
Justin Lawson and Joseph Lowe both face charges in the attack.
The town marshal also resigned over allegations that he bungled the investigation.
