(WHITLEY CO.) - A farmer came across a car and a body while working in a cornfield on Sunday.
The farmer was combining corn at the farm at County Road 850 West north of State Road 114 and came across a car. The body was found nearby. Whitley County Coroner Randall Dellinger said the body appeared to have been in the field for some time before it was discovered by the farmer.
The body has yet to be identified and Dellinger said they will likely need to use DNA testing, which may take a couple of days to net results. An autopsy is scheduled for around noon on Monday. Once the body is identified, the coroner will work on notifying the family.
Dellinger said no foul play is suspected at this point. The Whitley County Coroner, the Whitley County Sheriff's Department and Indiana State Police are investigating.
