Fisher Police Say Death Is Homicide

Last updated on Monday, November 3, 2014

(FISHERS) - Fishers Police say a death investigation has turned into a homicide investigation after the coroner found signs of trauma to the body.

The body of an unidentified white man over the age of 30 was found around 7 p.m. Saturday night in the grass near the retention pond of the Windermere subdivision by a man walking his dog. Police made contact with people coming and going from the area and searched the Windermere area and are confident it is now safe.

"We did perform a very thorough search of the area, and so we do not believe that there is any immediate danger to the residents in this neighborhood at this time," said Sgt. Tom Weger.

A perimeter had been set up in the area of 96th Street and Mollenkopf when police first arrived on the scene. A witness told Eyewitness News the entire Windermere neighborhood had been locked down and officers were checking IDs as people entered and left.

Anyone who was in the area that afternoon or evening and may have seen something is asked to call Fishers Police Detective Doug Baker at 317-595-3319.
