(MUNCIE) - Ivy Tech Community College estimates it can create a state-of-the-art automotive technology training center at a former Anderson car dealership for $1.4 million to serve 200 students throughout east central Indiana.
The college's East Central board of trustees has accepted the donation of the dealership from Mary and Paddy Jamerson but it still needs approval from college's state board of trustees.
Regional Chancellor Andy Bowne told the regional trustees that east central Indiana needs more trained and certified technicians to diagnose and repair today's high-tech vehicles.
The Star Press reports the region's current automotive technology program in Muncie lacks adequate space and is outdated. It enrolls about 100 students.
