(JASPER) - A Jasper man was arrested after he allegedly battered, strangled and threatened to kill a woman he had held hostage in a hotel room.
Jasper police responded to the Econo Lodge at about 8:36 a.m. Thursday for the report of the incident. When they arrived, they made contact with 19-year-old Brent W. Deich as he was walking from the hotel.
According to authorities, Deich and a juvenile female had been involved in a domestic altercation. The female victim told police that Deich wouldn't let her leave the hotel room and during the fight he threatened to kill her.
The victim complained of pain but declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment.
Deich was arrested for Level 5 felony criminal confinement, Level 6 felony strangulation and intimidation and a misdemeanor count of domestic battery.
Officers booked Deich into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:45 a.m.
