(SULLIVAN CO.) - A 19-year-old from Clay City was arrested Sunday night after a high speed chase in Sullivan County.
Just after 5 p.m. on Sunday, an Indiana State Police Trooper clocked a white 2013 Chevrolet Silverado going 85 mph in a 60 mph zone on US 41 near County Road 975 South in Sullivan County.
The Silverado finally came to a stop near the Knox County, Sullivan County line on US 41. When the Trooper requested approached the driver and requested a driver's license, the driver became agitated and fled northbound on US 41.
Additional Troopers from the Putnamville Post, Troopers from the Evansville Post, Sullivan County Sheriff's deputies and Knox County Sheriff's deputies were called for assistance.
Just before 5:45 p.m. the suspect crashed the truck in a field across from the Shaker Prairie Church at 3217 West County Road 1075 South in southwestern Sullivan County. The driver exited the vehicle and immediately engaged in a physical confrontation with two Troopers and a Knox County deputy. A Taser device was used and the suspect was taken into custody.
The vehicle, 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, was reportedly stolen over the weekend from a Terre Haute auto dealer.
19-year-old Brandon Alexander of Clay City was arrested and faces charges of resisting law enforcement, possession of stolen property, battery on police and additional pending charges.
He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes for evaluation and then taken to the Sullivan County Jail.
