(UNDATED) - Every vote counts—but today’s election is not expected to bring many people out to the polls.
Compared to the 2010 election, turnout is down. One factor that could generate more interest is the number of women running for state office. Republicans Connie Lawson, Suzanne Crouch and Kelly Mitchell are making history with their candidacy for Secretary of State, Auditor and Treasurer.
Indiana Democratic Party Chairman John Zody says "everyone who runs and everyone who's involved in the political process needs to know the importance women have on our democracy."
Aside from the statewide races, all 100 members of the Indiana house of representatives are up for election, along with half of the senate. All nine congressional seats are on the ballot, along with school board and judicial elections.
