(FORT WAYNE) - Fort Wayne police have made an arrest in a hit and run accident.
The accident happened in November that killed a 25-year-old woman who was walking along Maplecrest Road.
84-year-old Howard George Lininger has been charged with a felony count of leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury or death.
Haley Marie Nancarrow was pronounced dead at the scene on the evening of November 18.
A man walking home spotted her lying in the street and flagged down a passing Indiana State Trooper.
Investigators believed she had been struck by a vehicle near the intersection of Maplecrest and Georgetown North Boulevard. Friends told police she had been visiting family and was walking to a friend's house to get a ride back home when she was hit.
Based on information from witnesses, police began looking for a small truck or SUV, reddish or brown in color. An older white man with gray hair had been seen pulled over near the accident with his hazard lights flashing. However, he drove off a short time later.
Police arrested Lininger Monday evening.
