(FORT WAYNE) - Attorneys for a Fort Wayne man accused to killing a woman and setting her body on fire in October are asking the court for a mental health evaluation for their client.
20-year-old Quinn Albers' attorneys also informed the court on Friday that they intend to use the defense of mental disease of defect in the case of the death of 30-year-old Katherine Gick.
Allen County prosecutors charged Albers with murder in October after he was seen running from an area of Catholic Cemetery where police had been called to a report of a possible corpse set on fire.
In the cemetery, investigators found the disrobed body Gick. Her body displayed obvious signs of trauma to her head and neck, and items set on top of her had been set on fire, causing burns to her torso, pelvic area and arms. Gick's death was ruled a homicide, with the exact cause still under investigation.
Another pretrial hearing is scheduled for February.
