(SOUTH BEND) - Construction crews have begun work on a $400 million project to add three buildings to Notre Dame Stadium the day after the season’s final home football game.
The project is part of a $700 million project around campus and leads a nationwide college building boom as the economy improves and schools try to find ways to attract and retain students.
Construction at Notre Dame includes a $35 million research building, a $30 million building to house the departments of economics, political science and sociology and another $30 million building that will house international institutes.
The work at the football stadium will add a student center, a building to house the anthropology and psychology departments, a digital media center and music and sacred music departments.
