(URBANA, Ill.) - The escaped inmate from the Terre Haute Federal Prison, Michael Ward, was arrested on the University of Illinois campus last night.
University of Illinois Police stated they found him in the Undergrad Library located at 1402 W. Gregory Dr. around 7 p.m. CT on Monday. An officer doing a routine walk through noticed Ward because of his clothing and the 'knit bag' that was prison issued.
Ward told the officer he was there to use the public computer and that he was on parole. When the officer asked for his identification, Ward gave his prison ID. Campus police also found the vehicle.
Officials confirmed Ward was taken back into custody and is currently in the Champaign County Jail.
It's unclear if Ward will waive extradition.
