(FARMERSBURG) - Fischer’s report states that he told Perrine his car would be towed, and asked if anything in the car might cut or poke him if he searched it.
27-year-old Brandon S. Perrine of Farmersburg is facing multiple charges after drugs and paraphernalia were allegedly found in his possession at the scene of an accident.
Sullivan City Police Officer Jacob Fischer was reportedly dispatched to assist Sullivan County Sheriff's Deputy Carl Melchert with an argument over a car rear-ending another vehicle at around 11:50 a.m. Dec. 13, near North Section and Wolfe streets.
Fischer stated in a probable cause affidavit that he asked for the drivers' information and that Melchert told him Perrine had tried to lie about driving one of the vehicles, but eventually admitted to being the driver.
Fischer reported that there was no sign of damage to either of the cars. He added that by the time he arrived, the drivers were no longer arguing and both said they did not want a crash report.
Perrine then allegedly told Fischer that he had no driver's license, which was confirmed through dispatch. Perrine's status was reportedly suspended indefinitely.
When Fischer placed Perrine under arrest for driving while suspended with prior convictions, he allegedly searched Perrine and found large, round, white pills in his front pocket. Perrine reportedly told Fischer that he did not know what the pills were.
Fischer's report states that he told Perrine his car would be towed, and asked if anything in the car might cut or poke him if he searched it. Perrine allegedly said there were some syringes that he had been using to inject himself with morphine, along with a spoon, all in a pair of pants. Fischer stated that he did find the pants, which did contain those items.
Fischer further stated that he told Perrine he would be charged for those as well, then took the pills to a pharmacy, where they were identified as methocarbamol, a legend drug.
Perrine was booked into Sullivan County Jail. Bond was set at $16,000 with optional cash amount of $1,600.
Charges pending include unlawful possession of a syringe and use or possession of a legend drug, both level 6 felonies; and reckless possession of paraphernalia, and driving while suspended with priors, both class A misdemeanors.
