(TRAFALGAR) - When 166 soldiers with the 1313th Engineering Company entered the Indian Creek High School gym Sunday, they came with their families. They then said goodbye at the most difficult time of the year.
They marched in with a look of determination focused on the mission ahead, all emotion aside. But, the same can't be said for the hundreds of family members sitting in the audience preparing to hug their soldier for the last time in a long time, tears washing over the brave front.
"The spirit and patriotism of the Indiana Army National Guard is unparalleled to anything I've ever seen," said Capt. Christopher Eaton, Commander of the 1313th Engineering Company. "We are professionals and dedicated to do what we do and motivated to do what we do."
The soldiers will leave Indiana todday for Fort Bliss in Texas where they'll spend several months before heading out for their mission.
