(UNDATED) - State health officials have announced the first flu death of the season.
They say the individual was over 65 years old and was not vaccinated.
State health officials say they are worried it could be a severe flu season.
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported that H3N2 flu viruses have been the most common so far this flu season.
However, roughly half of them were found to have mutated into a virus different from those targeted in this season's flu vaccine.
Still, health officials say getting a flu shot is your best bet to protect against the flu.
