Last updated on Tuesday, December 9, 2014

(MUNCIE) - An inmate convicted in the 1993 robbery and shooting death of a Ball State University student is seeking an early release from prison.

Forty-two-year-old Doyle Moore Jr. was sentenced to 50 years in prison on murder and robbery charges in the attack on 22-year-old architecture student Tony Sak. Sak was working as a pizza delivery driver when he was shot at Muncie apartment complex.

The Star Press reports Moore is scheduled to appear before a Delaware County judge on Dec. 15. Moore maintained he was forced at gunpoint to drive two other men.

Defense attorney Jill Gonzalez says Moore wasn't the shooter and one man who pleaded guilty to robbery charges has been released from prison.

The convicted gunman, Martez Powell, is serving a 60-year sentence.
