(JASPER CO.) - A man from Indianapolis is in jail after he pointed a gun at another driver on I-65 southbound Friday night.
Indiana State Police dispatch at Lowell received a call of a subject in a car pointing a gun at another driver.about two miles north of the U.S. 231 exit in Jasper County around 10:30 p.m.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Ben Rector of the Lafayette Post witnessed the alleged vehicle, a 2006 silver Dodge Caravan, southbound at the 178 mile marker in Tippecanoe County. With assistance from other Troopers from the post, a traffic stop was initiated at the near the SR-38 exit on I-65 southbound.
The driver, 69-year-old Gerald Winston of Indianapolis, was taken into custody without incident. Winston was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a handgun and pointing a firearm at another person. He was transported and incarcerated at the Jasper County Jail.
