(AUSTIN) - A traffic stop leads to meth arrest in Scott County.
Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a trooper from the Indiana State Police Post at Sellersburg made a traffic stop on a maroon Ford Explorer on Dowling Drive in Austin.
The traffic stop was conducted on the Ford Explorer due to the vehicle committing several traffic infractions. During the traffic stop a K-9 from the Scott County Sheriff's Department was called to the scene by the trooper. After the K-9 alerted for possible drugs in the vehicle a search was completed. The search resulted in troopers locating nearly a half of an ounce of methamphetamine in the vehicle.
The driver, 36-year-old Jackson Lee McGinnis, aka- "Jay", was taken into custody by troopers.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence of Jackson Lee McGinnis, aka- "Jay", located at 4559 North Whitsitt Road in rural Scott County, (closest City being Austin). During the search at the residence troopers located more methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Jackson, aka- "Jay", McGinnis, was incarcerated at the Scott County Jail on felony charges of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver over ten grams. Charges are pending on the items located at the residence of McGinnis.
This investigation is continuing.
