(UNDATED) - It looks like 2015 is going to be a good year for Hoosier farmers, or at the very least, it is going to start out that way.
That's because forecasters say Indiana is likely going to see a weak El Nino come late winter and early spring.
Meteorologist David Miskus, who monitors droughts for the National Weather Service, says that means dry weather during that time frame and then back to normal come summer months. He says that while a dry spring may not sound appealing to farmers its only a problem if the state is coming off a drought, which its not. He referred to 2014 as fairly "uneventful" for Indiana, meaning there were a few dry spells but things rebounded quickly.
As of now there are no models suggesting Indiana is anticipating any more or less precipitation than normal for those summer months.
