(BARTHOLOMEW CO.) - A vehicle on U.S. 31 was hit by a stray bullet on U.S. 31 Friday evening.
According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department, Michael Kleinhenz of Lagrange, Ky. was driving northbound on U.S. 31 just after 6 p.m. when he heard something strike his vehicle.
Kleinhenz stopped to inspect the damage and that is when he found a bullet had penetrated the door and lodged into the door just below the driver's seat.
Deputies determined the bullet was fired from a makeshift firing range near the intersection of County Roads 150 South and 300 East.
Deputies say there was no criminal intent, but Sheriff Matt Myers is warning residents to be aware and responsible if firing weapons.
