(TERRE HAUTE) - A western Indiana jury has convicted a Terre Haute man in the slaying of his estranged wife, whose remains were found dumped in a rural area.
The Vigo County jurors deliberated about eight hours Saturday before finding 40-year-old Enzert Lewis guilty of murder, obstruction of justice and altering the scene of a death.
The Tribune-Star reports that Lewis will be sentenced Feb. 17 on the charges stemming from the October 2012 killing of 39-year-old Allyson Elmi-Lewis.
Her decomposing remains were found the following month along a road in a remote area of eastern Vigo County.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr testified during Lewis' trial that blunt force trauma to her face sheared the woman's upper jaw and knocked out 11 of her teeth.
