(NEW CASTLE) - A 43-year-old New Castle woman has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for biting a police officer.
Angela D. Riley pleaded guilty to battery against a public safety officer in exchange for the dismissal of five other charges. She also was initially charged with battery by bodily waste, possession of a controlled substance, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.
The Star Press reports Riley was arrested in September after biting a police officer on the lower calf. The officer required hospital treatment for the wound.
Riley was given credit for 119 days she already served in the county jail. The judge plans to recommend that Riley be allowed to participate in an intensive treatment program while in prison.
