(SHELBY CO.) - Rescue crews were working to save a victim from the Flat Rock River in Shelby County.
According to Shelby County Sheriff's dispatchers, divers were searching for a missing kayaker on Sunday afternoon.
Details surrounding the incident were limited.
After the water search was concluded Sunday evening, it was learned that a man matching the description of the victim was observed in a wooded area just north of the river.
Four men were rabbit hunting in the wooded area and stated that about 1:30 p.m. a man came up to them and asked if they had seen his dog.The hunters stated the man was wearing a Colts jersey, blue jeans, a dark knit hat and carrying a brown jacket. They also stated he was soaking wet from head to toe.
The man told the hunters he had went in the river looking for his dog. He was further described as being mid-forties, average build and six feet tall. The man declined the hunter's offers of help and continued walking on foot.
Shelby County Sheriff's Department is asking if you are this person, or you think you may know who it is, please contact the Sheriff's Department. Rescue personnel will be back on the river tomorrow searching until they can confirm that this person is home safe.
The search for the man will continue this morning at 8:30 a.m.
