(TERRE HAUTE) - Teenage years can often be a confusing, or stressful, time for children. As teens experience changes throughout their lives, they might have a hard time dealing with it all. In some cases, some even consider ending their own life.
Research from the Indiana Youth Institute shows one in five high school students have seriously considered suicide.
The state of Indiana ranks high in that category. Additional research from IYI shows that Indiana has the highest rate of students who have thought about committing suicide (19%). The Hoosier state ranks second among students who have actually attempted suicide (11%).
Officials say all it takes is one person in that child's life, who is caring and alert, to notice when something is wrong.
