(BARTHOLOMEW) - Two people were arrested in Bartholomew County for being involved in a vehicle theft.
Officials with the Bartholomew County Sheriff's Department say that just after 1 a.m. on Friday, a Deputy observed a pickup truck parked in the I-65 southbound rest park. The vehicle was running and occupied.
After running a check on the license plate, Sgt. Kris Weisner found that the vehicle had been reported stolen by the Indianapolis Metro Police Department (IMPD).
While Sgt. Weisner waited for assistance, the vehicle left the rest park, heading southbound on I-65.
Once other units arrived, the vehicle was stopped. IMPD confirmed that the vehicle had been reported stolen and the driver, Kenneth Sims, and his passenger, Amanda Sims, were taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers found that Amanda Sims was allegedly in possession of a controlled substance.
Kenneth Sims was arrested for auto theft.
