(HENRYVILLE) - A Henryville church that a deadly 2012 tornado destroyed has reopened to its congregation after nearly three years.
Mount Moriah Church's parishioners gathered Sunday for the church's first services in the new church building.
Those services came three years to the day that the Baptist congregation gathered for the last time in its old church days before it was leveled during the March 2, 2012, outbreak.
Pastor Terry Lanoue tells WDRB-TV that rebuilding the church has "been a long haul" following the storms killed 14 people in rural southern Indiana communities.
The new church building contains a storm shelter and sits near the snow-covered remains of the original church.
