Indiana Police Dismantle Indoor Marijuana Grow Operation

(INDIANAPOLIS) - An attempted warrant service early Wednesday afternoon by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department turned into an operation for the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section/Interdiction.

At approximately 1 p.m. Marion County Sheriff deputies attempted to serve an arrest warrant in the 1200 block of East 71st Street in Indianapolis on a woman wanted on a felony charge of dealing marijuana

During the course of the investigation a man at the home attempted to escape through a window. He was detained and told police his father was still inside.

During search of the home for the father, deputies discovered a marijuana grow operation in the basement.

Deputies notified the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section and the joint investigation yielded 50 marijuana plants, 70 one-pound sealed plastic baggies of processed marijuana, one rifle, three pistols and approximately $100,000 in cash.

The Indiana State Excise Police were called to the scene after police found an alcohol still.

This is an ongoing investigation and arrests are expected to be forth coming.

"The joint investigation between ISP, Marion County Sheriff's Office and the Indiana State Police Excise Police has removed a large amount of illegal drugs and a suspected alcohol still off the streets" stated Sgt. Leonard of the Indiana State Police Drug Enforcement Section. "It was a good investigation that utilized cooperation from all departments involved."
