(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indianapolis couple is facing neglect charges in the death of their teenage daughter.
51-year-old John Kelley and his 40-year-old wife Lavonne were arrested Wednesday afternoon on warrants for neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury. The arrests stem from an investigation that started last summer.
Officers responded to the Kelleys' home on August 4, 2014 for a death investigation. When they arrived, they found 18-year-old Linda Kelley deceased in the home. The teenager, who was paralyzed, was reportedly found with bedsores covering much of her lower body.
Kelley's death also led to the termination of two DCS workers who reportedly visited the Kelleys' home, which was described as "filthy," six days before the girl died, but did not report her condition.
