(SHELBY CO.) - State police confirm that two men died in a serious accident shortly after 7 a.m. Monday morning on I-74 near the London Road exit in Shelby County.
State Police say two vehicles, a car and an SUV, were traveling westbound and the car had its flashers on to pull over when the driver lost control and was T-boned by the SUV on the driver's side.
Two men in the car were pronounced dead at the scene by the Shelby County coroner. The driver of the SUV was not injured
One lane was open in both directions, but traffic was slow while crews cleared the accident. It took an hour and a half to clear the scene.
The road reopened completely around 9:30 a.m.
Police believe slick road conditions may have been a factor in the crash.
The names of the victims will be released when positive identification is made and the families have been notified.
