(CANNELTON) - A Branchville man was arrested on felony charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated late Monday night.
According to Indiana State Police, was on patrol on State Road 66 in Cannelton when he received a report of a possible reckless driver in the area. After witnessing the driver of a Jeep SUV commit several traffic violation the trooper stopped the vehicle.
While speaking with the driver, 21-year-old Cody Winkler of Branchville, the trooper detected the odor of alcoholic beverages and signs of impairment.
Police say Winkler had a blood alcohol content of .192 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
Winkler was arrested and taken to the Perry County Jail. Winkler had a previous OWI conviction, which enhances this charge to a felony offense.
The Indiana State Police remains committed to removing impaired and dangerous drivers from Indiana's roadways.
