(VALPARAISO) - Indiana Conservation Officers took home the “Foot Pursuit” trophy for the tenth year in a row on Saturday.
The "Foot Pursuit" is a 5k charity race that is held in Valparaiso. The race is organized by the Porter County Sheriff's Department to benefit the American Red Cross in Porter County and the Timothy Hecht Scholarship fund. The scholarship fund is in memory of a Porter County Officer who died of a massive heart attack while on duty in 1999. Past race events have raised over $5,000.00 for the charities. Indiana Conservation Officers remain the top team to beat since the event originated nearly ten years ago.
Indiana Conservation Officers Nicole Baumann, Jonathon Boyd, Shawn Brown, Jake Carlisle, Andrew Harmon, Patrick Heidenreich, Matt Maher, Kevin Pensinger, Ryan Vanderlugt, Nick Vandermolen, Dustin Whitehead, and another officer, all participated in the race. Anyone that has run in this race can tell you that this is no ordinary 3.1 miles. The cross country course is a mixture of snow, ice, and mud making the event somewhat challenging. Indiana Conservation Officers find themselves quite at home in these elements and it's no surprise that our officers have prevailed once more.
Indiana Conservation Officers will return next year to defend their trophy and hope to see you there cheering them on. #IndianaICO
