(CROWN POINT) - A Merrillville man was seriously injured in a single vehicle crash when he lost control and hit a tree.
According to an Indiana State Police report, at approximately 8 p.m., Sunday a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am driven by 27-year-old Dustyn Boyd of Merrillville was on the Crown Point ramp to I-65 southbound when the car suddenly went off the roadway.
The Grand Am went off the road to the right, down into a ditch while rotating counter-clockwise, and struck a large tree with the passenger side. Evidence at the scene indicates driver inattention and unsafe speed.
Boyd was taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in Gary with serious injuries. Toxicology results are pending.
