(MUNCIE) - On Monday night members of the Indiana State Police Pendleton District Meth Suppression Squad located and arrested the man wanted for leaving a backpack meth lab in a Muncie Walmart last Thursday night.
Troopers arrested 25-year-old Tyler Armstrong of Muncie at the Taco Bell on South Madison Street in Muncie.
Officers were looking for Armstrong and found him walking into the restaurant.
Armstrong attempted to resist officers when they identified themselves, but was subdued and taken into custody.
He was transported to the Delaware County Jail on felony charges of aiding in the manufacturing of meth, dumping controlled substance waste and criminal recklessness.
Armstrong is charged with Aiding in the Manufacturing of Methamphetamine a Level 4 Felony; Dumping Controlled Substance Waste, Level 6 Felony and Criminal Recklessness, Level 6 Felony.
In addition Armstrong is charged with Battery on a Police Officer, Level 6 Felony and Resisting Law Enforcement, "A" Misdemeanor. Additional charges could be filed against Armstrong after the Delaware County Prosecutor's review of the case.
24-year-old Ashley Oliver of Muncie was with Armstrong at the time of his arrest and was also arrested for Aiding in the Manufacture of Methamphetamine, Level Four Felony. She also was lodged in the Delaware County Jail.
The Meth Suppression team was assisted in their investigation by Walmart Loss Prevention Staff, and was assisted at the scene by the Muncie Police Department and Delaware County EMS.
This investigation demonstrates that citizens may encounter Meth Labs or Meth lab trash anywhere, so it's important to know what to look for. Meth trash can include Psuedoephedrine blister packs; Liquid Fire drain cleaner bottles, battery casings, and plastic drink bottles with white residue in the bottom.
If you encounter any of the above items, or find an unattended backpack, gym bag or piece of luggage that appears out of place, call 9-1-1, or contact your local Indiana State Police Post.
