(NEW PARIS) - A New Paris woman is facing charges in connection with the death of a 19-month-old toddler in last October.
58-year-old Jackie L. Rolston was charged Friday with battery on a child resulting in death. The child, Kirk Coleman, died from blunt force trauma to the head on October 29. Rolston told the child's parents that he choked to death.
Court records show Rolston was charged in 2006 with neglect of a dependent and battery on a child. She pled guilty to the neglect charge and the battery charge was dismissed as part of the plea deal.
As of Friday afternoon Rolston had not been booked in the Elkhart County Jail.
