(UNDATED) - According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention youth violence is the leading cause of death for youth ages 10-24 in Indiana and nationally.
During National Youth Violence Prevention Week, health and education leaders are building awareness about the role the community plays in preventing violence.
Families, schools and communities play an important role in making students feel safe and aiding in the continuance of compassion and cooperation.
It's important that young people have access to high quality educational and recreational facilities, as well as mental health services and juvenile delinquency programs.
